Certified Translations for Germany
When submitting foreign language documents for legal purposes in Germany you will often be asked to provide a certified ("sworn") translation (beglaubigte Übersetzung), e.g. when submitting documents to German government offices, educational institutions or courts. Orange Translations routinely handles certified translations of birth certificates, marriage certificates, professional qualifications, legal and medical documents, corporate documents and many other document types.

Currently we offer certified translations for Germany in English to German only (no other language combinations). If you need your certified translations for countries other than Germany, for example the UK or US, we can provide a wider range of languages. This is due to different regulations around certification in each country.
In order to be legally valid in Germany, translations must be certified by a court-authorised ("sworn") translator (öffentlich bestellter und beeidigter Urkundenübersetzer). We provide this service through our translation office in Düsseldorf, Germany.
The Process
Step 1: Submit your documents
Email your documents to germany@orangetranslations.com or use the "Quick Quote" contact form on this page. We do not need the originals. A scanned copy or picture from your smartphone is fine.
You can also drop off copies of your documents (please do not leave originals with us) at our registered office at Oststraße 54 in Düsseldorf. However, our staff work remotely; they are not based at that office. There is a receptionist who will be happy to forward your documents to us, but they are not familiar with the translation process and will not be able to answer any questions. Therefore, the most convenient process is to send us your documents directly by email.
Step 2: Quotation
We will analyse your documents and aim to contact you within 2-3 hours with a quote. This includes the cost, delivery time, and payment information.
Step 3: Payment
If you want to proceed, make your payment by bank transfer or credit card. Once completed please send us a quick message.
Step 4: Translation, review and approval
We will complete the translation and email it to you for approval. That way you have the opportunity to check the spelling of names, dates etc. and confirm that you are happy with everything. Once approved, our translator will certify the translation, we'll email you a scanned copy in PDF and send you the hard copy by post or DHL.
