Translate to Relate: Effective Business Communication in Different Languages
Join us in Hong Kong on Sept. 28 for a breakfast workshop at the American Chamber of Commerce.
Languages and translations surround members of the international business community in many ways. Translating important documents and communications is becoming especially vital as we do more business with China and the rest of the world. However, most of us have stumbled over incomprehensible or even humorous translations from time to time or have heard stories of global companies whose translation blunders became the subject of jokes.
This 70-minute workshop includes topics such as:
- Does my organization need translations: Why translate and what to translate?
- Human translations vs. machine/online translations
- What are computer aided-translation (CAT) and translation memory (TM) tools?
- What makes a good translator?
- How much do translations cost? What are they worth?
The event is hosted at the American Chamber of Commerce office in Hong Kong and starts at 8:00 with a light breakfast.
